The Greater Miami & Beaches Hotel Association - A Message from the Chairman

About Us

Mission Statement
To promote the interests of our members through advocacy, education, and partnerships and advance Miami as the visitor's destination of choice.

Chairman's Message

Raj Singh, General Manager, Sea View Hotel I would like to first of all thank our immediate past Chair, Tim Nardi, for his leadership. He was the right person at the right time, leading a bunch of like-minded hoteliers, and helping them to believe that the Greater Miami and the Beaches Hotel Association was simply the most important organization for our industry. I can tell you no one is gladder than me to have Tim continue to be on the board and on the executive committee than I am.
This year as in the past, the association has a diversified Board of Directors. They represent hotel and resort – both large and small. Representatives from our Allied Members also serve on the board. Additionally, all areas of Miami-Dade County are represented. Our efforts to update our membership on local, legislative, and national issues that affect our industry and our efforts to influence them will be ongoing as well.
The Miami Beach Convention Center will continue to be an important agenda item for our association. The Convention Center is a regional issue with regional implications – all positive – for employment, business, visitors, tourism, and trade.
As you are all aware the association works through its’ President, and I am confident we have the right person at the wheel. Wendy Kallergis shares with the Board and me the vision that Miami-Dade is a great place and the various cities that make up this county are absolutely world-class. Many have been following the debate regarding casino resorts. We have been bombarded with comparisons likening Miami to cities like Las Vegas and Monte Carlo. Whether you are for or against casinos, one thing is absolutely true – Miami and the Beaches are the standard against which other cities should be compared, not the other way around.
Successful associations are those that create opportunities for its members for professional development. It is my goal to work with our educational institutions like FIU Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management and Miami Dade College International School of Hospitality Management to develop a program that would help our membership avail of these opportunities.
I look forward to working with all of you this upcoming year.
Warm Regards,
Raj
