CAPTIONBy Samantha Sin, AFP/Getty ImagesAlways wanted to meet celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa? Here's your chance: The famed restaurateur will be headlining a foodie cruise in May aboard the 1,070-passenger Crystal Serenity.
Luxury line Crystal says Matsuhisa will lead hands-on cooking classes, offer cooking demonstrations and mingle and take pictures with passengers starting on May 24 as the Serenity sails a 12-night Mediterranean itinerary. He'll also serve as the in-person executive chef at the ship's Silk Road restaurant and Sushi Bar, which he designed in partnership with the line.
The sailing also will include a special add-on "Omakase" dinner, with sake and sake champagne pairings chosen by sake master Fumio Hazu, the man behind an exclusive sake served at Matsuhisa's Nobu eateries around the globe.
Matsuhisa's trademark Japanese-Peruvian fusion cuisine has been served complimentary on Crystal's two ships -- the Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity -- since 2003 and 2008, respectively. Matsuhisa personally trains the chefs and designs the menus for the ships' Silk Road restaurants.

In addition to Matsuhisa, the May 24 sailing will feature tastings and demonstrations led by Chef Heinz Beck of Rome's La Pergola restaurant, which holds three Michelin stars; mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim; and master sommelier Bob Bath. A seven-course "Ultimate Vintage Room Dinner" prepared by Beck and Bath will feature fine wines for approximately $1,000 per person.
The 12-night Serenity sailing kicks off in Dover, England and includes calls in Bassens, France (for Bordeaux); Lisbon, Portugal; Gibraltar; Monte Carlo; Livorno, Italy (near Florence); Porto Venere, Italy; and Civitavecchia, Italy (near Rome). Fares start at $3,955 per person, based on double occupancy.
